Ableton is a great choice of Dubstep software. Ableton for me is the big daddy of music production software and it really will leave you wanting for nothing.

The choice of many professionals it is superb. At nearly $500/£300 it won’t be for everyone though. Such a huge program is obviously fairly difficult to use but it does come with extensive tutorials – which you will need!

If you are a professional artist or have outgrown cheaper software then this is the one for you.

Final Word on Making Your Own Dubstep

You can learn how to make dubstep on many different Dubstep software. In my experience it is best to use a mix of different software packages to get that style and sound that is unique to you. As an absolute bare minimum you need a sequencer and some samples. So a great place to start is Dubtubro which is so cheap and if you buy here you can get a whole truckload of free samples to get you started. As you progress and get better at Dubstep production I would recommend you upgrading (but still keeping Dubturbo which is great as a simple sequencer) to something like Ableton or Logic. You can use these to create your own unique sounds which can then be uploaded into a sampler like Dubtubro and its then easy to make some unique and absolutely banging dubstep tracks.

Making great tracks is not easy but believe me if you have the right passion and belief (and equipment) you will be succesful. You might not sell a million tracks but you will create music that you can be proud of and you can play to your friends or in the club. Believe me nothing is more satisfying than smashing out your own music to a group of people who care all goping crazy for your beats. I first played out a track of my own about 2 years ago and I will remember that day until I die. No one knew the track was mine (not even my friends cos I was too shy) and people were really feeling my track on the dance floor. It was the best feeling I ever had and since then I have been completely hooked.
